Absolute Boyfriend 2.0 - Chapter 2

Absolute Boyfriend 2.0
Characters: Arashi, KAT-TUN, OCs, and various special guest appearances from other famous people
Pairing/s: Not yet specified
Summary: Miyuki has had one bad relationship after another, while Haru has never been in one. Both are given a chance to have their ideal boyfriend--only they're not human.
A/N: If you have seen Zettai Kareshi or if you have read the manga, then you'll msot likely understand what this is about. I changed the plot, ofcourse, so this would be different from both the manga and the drama. I was inspired by the two media, and you might see bits and pieces of information that I have taken from them just so this would really have the feel of a Zettai Kareshi part 2 (with Johnny's boys as the main characters XD).
Disclaimer: I do not own ZettaI Kareshi (drama/manga) in anyway, nor do I own the Johnny's boys--except for one (LOL). I own the plot and the OCs. Some characters from the original Zettai Kareshi are mentioned, but I do not own them either. ^^

Chapter 2 – Perfect Boyfriend

Haru lay awake on her bed as she recalled the day’s happenings. Her sister, Chiyo, was sleeping soundly on the bed at the opposite side of the room. Haru was careful not to wake her as she tiptoed her way out.

She found her bag still on the couch where she had left it. She fished for her notebook and skimmed the notes she took down while at Kronos Heaven, trying to remember everything she learned that day.

“Do you like personality quizzes, Shiomi-san?” asked Kimura.
“Huh? Well…I’ve answered some…but—“
“What you see on the screen is probably the most important—not to mention accurate—personality quiz you will ever take in your entire life. That is, of course, if I am not reincarnated…because then I’d be able to make a better personality quiz than this one.”

Kimura laughed at his own joke and Haru just stared at him.

“As I was saying…This is a very important personality quiz…It is the product of the combination and meticulous scrutinization of the many different kinds of personality tests available to date. I must point out though that this is certainly more reliable than the ones previously developed.”

Haru remained suspicious of him as she read what is on the screen while Kimura looked closely over her shoulder. She cleared her throat, but Kimura remained as he was.

“How long is this test exactly?”
“Please answer it and see for yourself what it’s like.” He said as he straightened up, making Haru feel a bit more comfortable that he wasn’t so dangerously close anymore.

She sighed and looked back at the screen. She could see that the test comprised of several pages and she was not even sure how many items were on each page.

“Why is it relevant that I answer this test, Kimura-san?”

He chuckled.

“To know your personality, of course.” He said matter-of-factly. “Using this advanced test and the preferences that you would later specify, we will be able to find your perfect man.”

Haru looked up at him with a straight face.

“There is no such thing, Kimura-san.”

Haru has read a lot about a lot of things but nothing prepared her for what Kimura told her. She knew that almost anything was possible for technology at this day and age, but she was still not convinced of what Kimura had said. She tried to recall past articles she has read about the latest technological developments, or even the ones she had read in the past. The only robots she could remember were Asimo and Kansei, the latter of which she thinks is simply frightening.

“Say that again?”

“From the results of this quiz, and the preferences that you have shared with us today we can create someone who is exactly what you need.”

Haru still thought she heard him wrong.

A very determined Miyuki clasped Satoshi’s face and put more cream on it. She saw to it that she woke up earlier than needed so she’d have time to forcefully apply something on her brother’s face that would make him look less like a burnt piece of toast.

“Hold still!” she scolded. “If you would only put on some sun block you wouldn’t look so ridiculous.”
“Ow! Stop!”
“Ohno Satoshi, you stop flailing or so help me you will never go to the sea again.”

She heard Nino laugh in the background.

“Kaa-chan?” a surprised Satoshi whispered, and Nino laughed again.
“She’s possessed, Oh-chan.”
“Kazunari,” Miyuki said sternly as she spread more cream on Satoshi’s forehead. “Be quiet and finish your food. And no magic at the table! We’ve talked about this! How many times do I have to tell you?”

Nino snickered, and Miyuki knew that he still kept playing. She sighed and looked at Satoshi’s now perfectly creamed face. She laughed at her finished product because now he looked like toast with cream cheese. Her older brother looked at her blankly.

“Oniisan, kawaii.”
“Be gone!” he snapped.

She laughed as she joined Nino at the table who was shuffling his cards, his feet tucked underneath him on the chair.

“You do know it’s your fault, right? That Sato-nii’s now channeling Night’s Choco Fudge brownie, I mean.” Miyuki said before sipping some coffee.
“Whaaaat? I am appalled! That is absolutely preposterous!”

Satoshi murmured an ‘I like that brownie’ in the background.

“It’s your stupid sticker! He’s spending twice as much time in the sea because of it!”
“What stupid sticker? I don’t know what you are talking about.”
“You are tolerating him!”
“It’s not my fault the man’s obsessed.”
“Well he probably got it from you with all your magic and games and mangas. Some role model you are…”
“We are passionate, Miyuki-chan. Passionate.”
“Oh, now it’s ‘passionate’.”

Nino was ready with a comeback but their argument was interrupted when Satoshi suddenly appeared proudly holding up his canvas for them to see.

“Tada!” he said with as much enthusiasm as he could muster. “Kaa-chan, Tou-chan look!”
“Uwa! That’s incredible!”

Miyuki was too much in awe of her brother’s artwork to realize what he called them. It was a good thing, however, for she might have thrown a fit if she had heard Satoshi address them as his parents. She stood up and took a closer look at the painting. Miyuki always wished she was as artistic, but it seems to her that Satoshi took all the artistic genes from their parents. She could only be thankful that she had a very good eye for things.

“See! See! This is why he looks like a brownie. It’s passion, I tell you.” Nino said as he nodded his appreciation for the painting. “Magnificent.”

Miyuki rolled her eyes and just shook her head. She wondered how she survived living with the two men for the past years. Then she wondered how the two men would survive if she had not been around.

“Let’s go together one day.” Satoshi said, disrupting her thoughts.
“I’ll take the two of you with me. I can teach you how to fish!”
“Sorry, Oh-chan…” Nino replied nonchalantly as he shuffled his cards. “You know I get sea sick. Plus I don’t like your boat.”
“How about you, Miyuki? Just you and me...”

She looked at her brother and was hesitant to accept his offer. She had no interest in fishing whatsoever and if she could not make fun of a seasick Nino while on the trip, she didn’t see the point of going. However, it was rare for her brother to initiate an activity that they can do together. It was rare for him to initiate anything, period.

He gave her a small, toasty smile.

“I’ll even wear sun block and all that sun protection shebang that you’re telling me.”

Miyuki laughed.

“Well then how can I refuse?”

Haru flipped a page in her notebook and her eyes landed on a scribble she made at one corner of the page.

She rarely used the word for she believed that something perfect can never exist in this world. Perfection was something that people aimed for, but never acquired. She could not deny though that she wanted to see how Kimura-san could make it possible.

Haru quickly closed her notebook and looked up. She was relieved to see that it was only Junno.

“I thought you were the boss…” she said with an embarrassed laugh.
“Eh? Do I sound like him?”
“No, not at all!” she said as she waved her hand. “I’m just a bit paranoid lately.”

Junno smiled and nodded.

“He’s really pressuring you with this assignment, huh?”
“Yeah… He’s been watching me since yesterday like he thinks I’ll fail. I don’t know why he’s so worked up about it.”
“I’m sure he doesn’t think you’ll fail, Shiomi-san. You’re the—“

They both turned and saw Nagase-san do the infamous finger summon. They both made a weird face after he disappeared into his office again.

“I wonder what he wants now?” said Haru. “Don’t tell me he has another assignment for me or I’ll break down.”

Junno held up his thumbs and grinned.

She gave him a pained look before half-dragging herself to his office. Nagase-san’s back was turned to her when she came in. She thought he looked very sinister when he turned slowly in his chair to face her, his legs crossed and his elbows on the arm rests, the tip of his extended fingers meeting in front of his chest.

“Shiomi…” he said in a low and rough voice.

He lowered his eyes and his eyebrows almost met as he frowned.

“I heard you went to Kronos Heaven…” he said in the same low voice.
“Did you do what you were told?”
“Well, um…”
“Did you or did you not, Shiomi? It is a very simple question and I expect an immediate answer.”
“Yes sir, I did what they told me to do.”

She clasped her hands together behind her back and tried to think if she had said or done anything offensive to Kimura-san the other day.

“Good girl!” Nagase-san exclaimed with a wide grin even though he was frowning.
“And I expect you will come back soon to make the purch—pur…pur...per—fect man?”

The silly grin left his face and he genuinely looked frightening now.

“You do understand what I am trying to make you do, don’t you?”

Haru felt nervous now. She remembered the old rumors that their boss had split personality and she was now considering that they might be true after all.

“Have a seat, Shiomi.”

She quickly did was she was told and held her breath as Nagase-san stood up from his chair and walked towards her. He leaned at the edge of his desk adjacent to where she was seated.

“You probably know by now that Kronos Heaven makes robot lovers.” He started. “If you’ve been chummy with Kimura-san then you also probably know the background of KH. But since you've only met him once, I doubt that you would be chummy with him.”

He winced.

“He gets all up in your face, it’s annoying.”

Haru smirked. She felt the same way.

“You’ll get used to it eventually.” He assured.

It was Haru’s turn to wince. It wasn’t something she wanted to get used to.

“Anyway, I want you to write the article about love for our February issue. You are my best writer. Don’t let me down. You know how it is in this business… We need to be on top if we want to exist at all. Our sales need to go up and we need to bury the competition this February.”

He squinted his eyes and clenched his fist.

“They’ve been winning the February issue for two years now…It’s time to take back what’s ours…”

Way to inspire me, Nagase-san… I’m already in enough pressure.

Nagase-san stood up to return to his chair.

“… and I need you to incorporate it with whatever you will learn from your robot lover. It wasn’t in the original plan, but something came up so now you have a robot lover to help you out. I personally think that’s good news for you. You need a boyfriend.”

Haru just stared at him in shock.

“Of course Kronos Heaven promotion is needed but you will pay them back with your very valuable input on their research. So make sure that you are cooperative.”

Haru frowned and tried to digest what her boss was telling her. She understood the part about the love article. She understood the part about Kronos Heaven too. She just did not understand one thing.

“Nagase-san… A robot lover? For me?”

The silly grin with the frown came back.

“I suggest you pay our dear Kimura-san a visit now, Shiomi.”

Miyuki followed Aiba as he took the stairs to the office. If she had known that he was an advocate to good health and physical fitness, she would have worn more comfortable shoes.

When they finally reached the tenth floor, Miyuki was almost ready to collapse. Her legs and feet were sore and it was very hard to breathe. She wasn’t a very physical person after all. Aiba, however, barely worked up a sweat.

“Yes! We made it Ohno-chan!” he cheered. “High five!”

He held his palms up and she tried to smile as she reached for them.

“Are you okay?”
“I…I’m…” she rested her hands on her knees. “I’m great, Aiba-san.”
“Not very good at this I see.”

Aiba grinned and patted her head.

“Dai—jo—bu… You’ll be keeping up in no time. I’m sure of it.”
“H-Hai. Ganbarimasu. “
“Yosh! Come on, straighten up! We’re going to make our entrance so you need to perk up.”

She leaned on the wall as she took out her hanky to wipe the sweat off her forehead. She watched as he removed imaginary dust from his clothes and fixed his hair.

“You see, we have to greet everyone and psych them up!” he exclaimed. “It’s often very stressful and heavy inside the office especially when deadlines are coming up.”
“So I made it my goal to always lighten the mood and brighten up the atmosphere whenever I come. It’s not a very easy thing to do, but somebody has to do it, ne?”

Miyuki just smiled and nodded and thought that he became even more endearing because of what he said. She thought that his way of doing things were a bit out of the ordinary, but she found it very thoughtful that he was concerned about the atmosphere in the office. She too hated heavy atmospheres.

“Now, watch what I’m going to do and then I want you to do the same, okay?”

He pushed the glass doors open and said a loud and very energetic ‘Konnichiwa’ with his arms opened wide and high, much to the surprise of Miyuki. For a while she thought he was like Koki who was always rather scandalous when entering a room.

“I wonder if he’s from Chiba too?” she thought to herself.

Aiba-san remained in his Konnichiwa pose while everyone’s eyes turned to her as if waiting for her to do the same. She froze.

“Ohno-chan…” Aiba whispered, turning his head a bit to see her. “Ohno-chan, come on!”
“E-Eh? Ya—ano…”

Miyuki chewed on the inside of her lip and walked to her senior.

“Kon-nichi-wa…” she said uncomfortably. Her hands didn’t even go above her head. Aiba dramatically dropped to the floor.
“What was that? Where is your energy?” He said when he stood back up.
“We’ll work on it, don’t worry.” He answered. “Not bad for a first try. Come on.”

She sighed and followed him. Miyuki tried to ignore the snickers and the amused and taunting looks from the other staff. She walked behind Aiba’s tall frame as he skillfully made his way between the tables. He stopped in front of a table where a woman seemed to be sleeping.

“Hey, Shio!”

The woman sat up and looked dazed, but a smile formed across her face when she saw Aiba. Miyuki has not seen her on her first day at the company.

“How are you? Are you alright?”

She got out of her daze and her smile grew wider as she nodded.

“I’m alright now that you’re here.”
“Not really.” She chuckled. “I was just thinking about something.”

Aiba laughed as well.

“Yeah… I know how he is. Oh, this is the new photographer.” Aiba motioned for her to come closer. “I remember that you two didn’t meet the last time she was here.”

Miyuki smiled a little and bowed.

“Hajimemashite. Ohno Miyuki desu.”
“Ah…Hi there…I’m Shiomi Haru.”
“She’s the best writer here.” Aiba-san told her. Shiomi-san chuckled.
“Don’t believe everything he says.”

Aiba gasped and covered her ears immediately.

“Shio, how could you? This is my kouhai! You can’t tell her stuff like that!”
“Sorry, sorry… I take it back.” She laughed. “What are you doing here anyway? Don’t you have a photo shoot today?”
“Oh, that’s right! I almost forgot! I have to talk with the boss about it!”

Aiba rushed to the boss’ office and Miyuki found herself alone with Shiomi. She looked a bit dazed again but she gave Miyuki a warm smile.

“Did he make you do the entrance already?” she asked.
“Yes…Just a while ago.”

Shiomi laughed and it eased the tension a little.

“I told him not to do it anymore but he insisted that it was important.” She said as she shook her head. “He’s a bit odd.”

Miyuki smiled and nodded.

“You should listen to him though. He really knows what he’s talking about even though he’s a bit loopy at times.”
“I think he’s very good in what he’s doing too, from what I saw today at the shoot.”
“Indeed he is…” Shiomi-san agreed. “He really loves his job and he’ll surprise you with little nuggets of wisdom every once in a while.”

Miyuki then heard Aiba-san call her name. He was already outside the boss’ office and gesturing that they had to go already. She turned to Shiomi and bowed.

“I think we have to go now. It was nice to meet you.”
“Yes, same here. I’ll see you around.”

Miyuki had only gone a few steps when Shiomi called her.

“Just a little tip for your entrance, Ohno-san…”
“What is it?”
“Don’t think…just do it.”
“Just…do it?”
“Just do it.” Shiomi-san said again and smiled.

Haru came back to Kronos Heaven just as Nagase-san instructed. She was waiting for Akanishi to accommodate her. He was still busy talking to someone on the phone and it looked like it was something very important so she decided not to disturb him.

She had been struggling about what to do since Nagase-san called her to his office earlier that day. Eventually she convinced herself that this was work and that she need not think too much of it.

“I’m sorry for making you wait, Shiomi-san.” Akanishi said. “Shall we go now?”

They made their way to the same room where Kimura had told her to answer the personality test. Kimura’s face brightened when he saw her.

“Shiomi-san! So good to see you again!” he said with a wave. “I was surprised when you left immediately after I told you about the robots… But I figured you’ll be back.”
“Yes, I apologize for that…”
“No, that’s fine.”

He pulled out a chair for her and she sat down.

“I thought that I was just supposed to write a promotional article for your company…maybe even write a background for that website of yours…”

Kimura smiled and sat on the chair in front of her.

“You didn’t expect that you’d actually be a recipient of one of the robots, huh?”
“It never crossed my mind…” she said with a nervous laugh. “But Nagase-san told me that you needed my input for your research, and I just wanted to know what kind of research that is. Especially because I am to take part in it, I think that it’s important that I know something about it even if I won’t mention it in my article.”

Kimura reclined in his seat and crossed his arms in deep thought. After a while, he straightened up and seriously looked at Haru. He spoke in a low tone.

“Several years ago, a man named Gaku Namikiri created 01, the first of the Kronos Heaven Nightly Series robot lovers—no, he was the only robot in that series that was created by him.” He started. “A person, like yourself, was chosen by Mr. Namikiri to try out the robot lover. Information and data that they obtained from the interaction between 01 and the woman would help in developing the robots for mass production.”

Haru nodded and listened attentively.

“I’m sure you’ve done your homework, and you would know that there was never a mass production of Namikiri-san’s Nightly Series Robots…”
“I couldn’t find anything about mass produced robots from Kronos… Was something wrong with it?”
“Well, for a robot, something was very wrong with it indeed…but for a lover, 01 was perfect. He was exactly what the woman needed… He was her ideal boyfriend until the very end.”
“What do you mean?”
“Because he was the first of his kind they didn’t know what to expect from him. The execs thought that 01 was a failure and that he was not fit to be mass produced so they created 02 without the knowledge of Namikiri-san. But to a surprising turn of events, 01 still proved himself to be the ideal boyfriend for the woman. She chose 01 over the newer and more advanced model.”
“So they scratched 02 and the woman kept 01 as her robot lover.”
“But there’s a catch…isn’t there? Something was still wrong with him…and that’s why you’re doing it all over again.”

He leaned a little closer as he rested his elbows on his knees.

“We’re doing it again because we believe that, this time, nothing will go wrong… We have the perfect boyfriend for every woman…and we have to prove it.” He said firmly. “Some people might think otherwise, but these robot lovers can help women everywhere. For some, it might be their first time to feel loved…for some it might be their only chance to be loved.”

Haru breathed in deeply and looked faraway, letting his words sink in and allowing herself to objectively think about the situation.

“But they’re still robots, Kimura-san… They’re not human… You don’t really think that these robots can be a substitute to actual men, right?”

Kimura exchanged looks with Akanishi and smirked. Although Haru has not had a relationship before, she was sure that robots can never replace humans.

“You’ll be surprised, Shiomi-san… In the world today, you’ll see that our robots are more human than most of the real humans today. Figuratively speaking...”

Haru could not contest to that.

When she didn’t answer, Kimura snapped his fingers at Akanishi who immediately came with a piece of paper. He handed it to Haru. She looked at the paper in her hands and then at Kimura.

“I really don’t want to do this…” she said firmly.

She looked at the paper again. She hated how a piece of paper can be so binding. She hated it more that she felt like she didn’t have a choice but to let her self be bound by the piece of paper. And still, even though she strongly opposed the idea, she understood what Kimura was saying. The robot lovers might be a great help for a lot of women.

“I know you’re doing this for work, Shiomi-san….” Kimura said in a gentle voice. “But I promise you…this will be worth your while…”

He took the pen from his breast pocket and held it out to her.

“I will give you the perfect boyfriend.”

Kame waved and smiled at Miyuki when she entered the shop. She waved back before making her way to the counter to look at the pastry display. She was disappointed when there were no more cream puffs so she ordered a Choco Fudge Brownie instead. She’s been craving for one since that morning anyway.

“How are my boys tonight?” she asked as she sat down with them.
“Great! We’re great.” Koki answered. “Kame here wanted to see you again. He’s worried about you.”

Miyuki smiled at a surprised Kame who was about to take a bite of his Lemon Bar. She placed her hand over his.

“Why are you worried, Kazu-chan? Do you still have feelings for me?” she joked, and Koki laughed.
“That’s awkward! Promise me you guys won’t date again! I’m happier when we’re one threesome, okay?”

Miyuki and Kame laughed as well.

“I hated those days. I felt so left out…” Koki said bitterly.
“Well, maybe we can get together then.” Miyuki suggested.

Koki smiled sweetly and placed a hand on her shoulder.

“I’m flattered, Miyu, but I only date women.”

She gasped just as Kame choked on his Lemon Bar and started laughing. She and Kame almost became a couple back in university. Even before they started officially dating, they both agreed that they were better off as friends than lovers. Koki was relieved, of course. He insists that they’re supposed to be the three gargoyles in The Hunchback of Notre Dame. He refused to be the Quasimodo to Esmeralda and Phoebus’ love story.

“It wouldn’t work out with us anyway.” She told Koki. “You being a yakuza and all…it’s too complicated.”

Miyuki purposefully said it loud enough for the others to hear. The people in the shop all turned to their table with frightened expressions.

“No, no, no… She’s just trying to be funny…” Koki grinned anxiously at them before giving Miyuki a death glare. She just shrugged and ate her brownie.
“Why did you guys want to meet up again?”
“Ah! About that…”

Kame took his bag and pulled out an envelope from inside.

“I need you to help me with something. I’d appreciate it if you can answer this for me.” He said.
“Hmm? Okay.”
“And the sooner you can give it back, the better.”
“Hey, how come you always ask her for help? Am I not smart enough for you?” Koki interrupted.
“This isn’t your area, Kou-chan. Go and sew a skirt for Miyuki or something.”

Koki’s jaw dropped.

“You just had to say that, huh, Kamenashi?”

He and Kame stared poker faced at each other for a long time as if it was a contest as to who would laugh first. Miyuki looked at the contents of the envelope as they stared each other down.

“Hey, how is this not Koki’s area? This is—“
“Oh, I forgot to tell you,” Kame interrupted. “Don’t show it to anyone, okay? It’s kind of confidential for me. It’s for your eyes only.”
“I understand.”

The boys didn’t continue their staring contest after that. Koki changed the subject by asking Miyuki about work and if she found anybody interesting there. He and Kame had been concerned about Miyuki and her recent break-up. Kame then talked about his friend who knew someone who knew someone who had someone who they think would be suitable for Miyuki but they ended up teasing Miyuki about the guys she dates.

“If you dated someone who’s not your type, you’d probably be doing better. You know? You always fall for the wrong ones.”
“I do not!” Miyuki protested.
“Oh yeah? Kou-chan, did you hear what she said?”
“Loud and clear, Kazu-chan. She’s in worse condition than I thought.”
“If you dated someone like me and Koki you wouldn’t be so miserable.”
“We did almost date, Kazu.”
“That’s not my point.”
“Then what is your point?”

Koki straightened his tie leaned on the table.

“His point is… you just suck at choosing men, Miyuki.” He said flatly.

Miyuki rested her chin on her hand and pouted. Koki and Kame has seen her go through a lot of relationships, and they were right. She has never had a successful relationship with any of the men she has been with and she now realized that it might be perhaps because she was very bad in choosing men just as they say. She was only thankful that she remained friends with Kame even after they almost dated.

“Maybe we should try setting her up with someone.” Koki suggested.
“That’s not a bad idea!” Kame fervently agreed. He reached for Koki’s hand and held it tightly before going on. “We can pick someone for Miyuki! Maybe then she could get to keep a boyfriend!”
“Sou sou sou!”
“We know her better than she knows herself, right?”

Miyuki listened as the two excitedly went on about their plans as if she wasn’t in the same room. She thought it quite funny that her male best friends were even talking about it. She believed it was something that female friends were supposed to do. But then again, she didn’t have a lot of female friends.

“We can get her the perfect boyfriend.”
“The perfect man for Miyuki!”

Miyuki made a face and crossed her arms as they kept on talking.

“Good luck with that…” she muttered under her breath. “Because there’s no such thing…”

Nino didn’t bother to open the lights as he stepped off the genkan and into the living room. He was exhausted. After spending two days in the studio working on their talent’s new single, he was happy to be home.

He dropped his bag on the floor and let himself fall face down on the sofa, ignoring the noises his stomach was making.

The lights switched on and he heard footsteps approaching.

“I thought it was you.” Said Miyuki. Nino assumed that she was leaning over the sofa and looking down on him. “Did you just get home?”

When he didn’t answer, he heard her walk away. He thought it happened too often that they would be awake at the same time late at night. She doesn’t stay up and wait for anyone and he knows it.

“Gah! The food’s gone cold! You did just get home!”
“It’s fine…I’ll eat it…” he mumbled.
“Eew. What are you saying? I’m going to heat it up. Do you want some tea?”

He stayed in his position and closed his eyes. If Ueda Tatsuya’s manager had not been so picky with the songs, he would not have had to spend so many hours at work trying to rewrite a song that he already thought was perfect.

He was slowly drifting off to sleep when he felt Miyuki tugging at his arm and telling him to get up. He let her drag him to the dining room where a hot pot of tea was waiting for him. Miyuki poured some in a cup and handed it to him before disappearing down the hall.

Nino sighed as the hot tea helped pacify his growling stomach.

Miyuki was holding an envelope when she came back to the kitchen and she was reading a paper from inside while she fixed up Nino’s food. He felt grateful that she bothered to prepare something or he would not have eaten at all. He can survive the night and wait for breakfast anyway.

“Why are you still up?”
“I was doing something for Kazu—ya.” She said as she placed a hot plate of rice and curry in front of him.
“Until this late?”
“It was a favor.”
“He still has a power over you, huh?” he teased, although deep inside he hated that she would call the other man the ‘Kazu that she loved’ just so she could emphasize her disdain for him.
“Shut up.”

He smirked and began to eat. He was pleased though that she kept him company while he ate even if he was practically invisible as she busied herself with what she was reading.

“You can go back to bed. I’ll just clean this up.”
“No…” she said without looking up. “It’s fine, I’m not sleepy anyway.”

He finished the tea in his cup and was surprised when Miyuki automatically refilled it with more tea from the pot. She wasn’t even looking when she did it, and he was reminded of a bakakkoi video he once saw on TV.

When he finished eating, Miyuki insisted that he go to bed already. She had already begun washing the dishes and he was invisible to her again. Although he didn’t feel like washing the dishes, he didn’t want her jabbering about it to Ohno the next day.

“I won’t complain about it to Nii-chan if that’s what you’re worried about.” She told him. “Just go already. I got this.”

He sighed and said another ‘thank you’ before making his way towards the hall that led to the bedrooms.

“Oh, and Nino…”

Nino turned around and saw that Miyuki was already drying the dishes. She stopped wiping and smiled a little.

“Ne, Kame…”

It was late already and the two men were now making their way back home. After meeting with Miyuki they went to a Karaoke bar to, as Koki says it, ‘drink and be merry’. It was something that they often did—the three of them—but Miyuki misses it most of the time because she would say she needs to make dinner for her brother.

Koki rubbed his hands together and tried to walk steady beside him.

“Do you think she’ll be alright?”
“She’ll be fine.” Kame answered almost immediately. “She’s tough.”
“You’re probably right…”

Kame had always been sure that staying friends with Miyuki was the best thing that he did for their relationship. He had no regrets, and he was satisfied with the friendship that she shares with her and Koki. But as he watched her get hurt over and over again, he wondered what it would be like if he had chosen to just stay by her side. He felt that perhaps he could have spared her all the other heartaches.

“We really need to do something, right?” asked Kame. “Miyuki needs our help.”
“We can’t let her fall for another stupid guy.”

They walked silently alongside each other for a while, both of them thinking if it was right that they meddle with her personal affairs. They were best friends, yes, but even the closest friends have their boundaries and limits.

“It’s not like we’re doing such a bad thing...” stated Koki. “I mean, she didn’t oppose when we were talking about it, right?”
“And she did sort of admit that she’s bad in choosing men. She deserves someone who will treat her well.” Kame said seriously. “She doesn’t deserve to always get hurt like that.”

Koki sighed and warmed his hands inside his pockets.

“That’s why we’re doing this…” continued Kame.

They reached the intersection where they would part ways and they faced each other.

“So we’re really doing this? We’re really going to help Miyuki with this?” he asked him again.

Kame looked up at the night sky and took a deep breath of fresh air. He looked at Koki and nodded.

“Someone needs to take care of her for a change.”

I like this story. I wonder who'll be Haru's boyfriend. And about Miyuki... I wonder about her feeling to Kame now. Is she still love Kame or not, I don't know. But I hope that she'd get her perfect boyfriend.

I'll be waiting for the next chapter.

Btw, I added you as my friend. Hope we could get to know each other.

My friend told me I might be psychic. Maybe she's right because I updated this fic just when you were hoping for one. XD

My other friend is probably as excited as you about the robots. Especially RoboSho. Haha. Let's wait for Chapter 3 then. ^^

Aiba is the nutcase we all love. <3

Hahaha.. I also secretly hope that this be transformed into one--but it would be impossible ne? XD especially since I used JE characters. Haha. But who knows, right? XD But I'm really glad you can imagine the scenes.

You have candidates for the girls already huh? That's good. And the boyfriends will appear very soon so watch for it.

Thank you again for reading.

And you can just watch this comm and the updates will appear on your list. ^^

LOL. I think now you can say I'm bad at commenting and updating. xD

Anyway, I really love this chapter. I like the interaction between Ohno and Miyuki. Also between Miyuki and her friends... and Nino, of course. Hee.

I cannot wait for the robots. Hope you'll have lots of inspiration so you can update soon. :)
